Swimming

Beth Sholom Day Camp swimming is an exciting achievement based program centered around safety, outstanding instruction, and fun! Every day, groups have an instructional and a free swim period. Campers can learn to be comfortable in the water, master the front crawl, or even accomplish the skill set needed to be a lifeguard in one of our three heated swimming pools. As campers progress through our American Red Cross Learn to Swim program, their self-confidence grows along with their swimming skills!

Our staff of American Red Cross, Nassau County certified lifeguards and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors provide swim instruction based on the campers’ abilities. Counselors work with Swim Instructors to ensure that campers have a positive and safe swim experience. Our staff works with swimmers of every level, encouraging them to participate in the instructional and free play activities.

Special Events & Trips

In addition to our regular programming, Beth Sholom Day Camp has entertaining events and trips planned for our campers. Special Events take place once a week, featuring themed activities for every age group as well as camp-wide gatherings. Our past events have included an exciting Carnival, Magic Shows, Swim-A-Thon, Olympics, Talent Shows and so many more!

Our campers in Lower Camp and Upper Camp venture out for exciting field trips throughout the summer. We plan several excursions for our 1st through 4th graders that are appropriate for their age group. Campers in Tweens and Sports Academy have several trips throughout the summer including two overnights. Each year our Upper Camp travels to Club Getaway, for a chance to participate in a variety of activities and experience resident camp life for 2 nights. CITs also take part in various trips including a professional baseball game, a community service project, and two exciting overnight adventures every summer.
