Where is Beth Sholom Day Camp?
Beth Sholom Day Camp is located on the north shore of Long Island in Roslyn Heights, NY.

What are the Dates for the 2024 camp season?
Camp runs for 8 weeks from June 27 through August 22. We require a 4 week minimum and you may choose any combination of weeks. Camp is closed on Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th.

Where are most of the children from?
Most of our campers come from the north shore of Long Island, Queens and other surrounding areas.

What are the typical group sizes?
Our group sizes are typically 12-18 campers grouped by age.

What is a typical day like at camp?
Campers will participate in age appropriate activities such as sports, arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, yoga, martial arts, and science.  Full Day campers have 2 swim periods per day.

Will my child learn to swim at camp?
Campers swim twice a day.  One period is instructional and the other is free swim.  We have Nassau County certified lifeguards and Water Safety instructors teaching the campers daily.  We use the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program.

How many staff are there in each group?
Our Junior Camp which is our 3-5 yr olds typically have a 4:1 ratio with a registered teacher as the group leader. Our Lower and Upper Camps have a 5:1 ratio.

Who instructs the activities?
All activities are led by qualified instructors. Our camp counselors will assist the instructor in running the age appropriate activities.

What happens when it rains?
Our schedule does not stop in the rain. We utilize our vast indoor space to run a full and exciting rainy day program.

What do I send to camp everyday?
We ask that your send a bathing suit and sunscreen to camp everyday as well as a water bottle filled with water which we will refill throughout the day.  Towels will be provided by camp.

Is camp competitive or non competitive?
At camp, we feel it is most important for children to participate, learn and feel good about themselves. There are opportunities for our older campers to participate in leagues for a little more competition.

What if my child does not know anyone at camp?
That is what we are here for! Camp is a place to make new friends and our experienced staff will help your child to meet new children and foster those lifelong friendships.  #campfriendsarethebestfriends
