2016 Leadership Team
Wow! I can’t believe it is almost time for school to end and camp to begin!! It is hard to imagine that a whole year has already passed since we waved goodbye to the BSDC buses on the final day of camp last summer. I can hardly wait to see all of the familiar faces of returning campers and staff, as well as the new campers and staff we will be meeting soon.
This will be my seventh summer working at BSDC. During the school year I am a Special Education teacher for the New York City DOE. My children have been spending their summers in Roslyn for even longer than I have been working here. I feel like I have grown up along with them, as I too began in Junior Camp, although as a Group Leader rather than as a camper! After three years in Junior Camp I moved up to become the Girls Lower Camp Division Head, looking after campers ranging from first to fourth grade. This will now be my third summer as Head Counselor. In this position I have been lucky enough to do a bit of everything, such as joining the Tweens and Sports Academy on their overnight trips to Club Getaway and Hershey Park last summer, and supervising our Specialists back here at camp.
I am eagerly awaiting the exciting adventures this summer will bring, such as my favorite returning visitors: Nature Nick and his exotic pets. I am also excited for the new Zumba program which has been expanded to include more age groups this summer!
Hi! I am so excited for my 5th summer at BSDC. I love everything about camp and have been working at camps since I started as a CIT back in 1989! During the year I teach pre-k at the Merrick Jewish Center. I am the head of the Junior Division at BSDC and am involved with everything that has to do with your little ones from 3-5 years old. I oversee the head teachers in our division and the counselors in the groups. I work with them on a daily basis to ensure that everything runs smoothly and the children are happy and safe. I look forward to helping your children overcome any fears they might have about coming to camp. My staff and I are ready for the challenge!
Each summer I love watching the children interact with each other as they learn new songs and games. Hearing them chant together with their group as they walk from one activity to the next always puts a smile on my face! Another wonderful part of my job is seeing the progress our youngest campers make at the pool from the beginning of the summer to the end. The children take such pride in what they have accomplished in such a short amount of time. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of your children during the summer. I am extremely confident that your child(ren) will have an incredible summer 2016 at BSDC!
I am the Lower Girls Division Leader and this is my 6th summer at BSDC. Before I was a Division Leader I was a teacher in Junior Camp for 3 years. I oversee all of the 1st-4th grade girls and their counselors. I make sure that everyone is safe, having fun and making new friends. We have a lot of fun and exciting trips and special events planned for the campers this summer from Monster Mini Golf and Adventureland to Carnival and Color War.
During the year I teach 1st grade in Brooklyn. Summer is approaching fast and I am so excited for it to begin. We have been working hard to make sure that this summer will be the best ever! I can’t wait to see the children in just a few weeks!
This summer I am the Division Head for the lower and upper camp boys. I am very excited for another amazing summer here at BSDC. This will be my seventh summer. I started as a Group Leader for lower camp boys and have been a Division Head for the past three years. Working at camp has always been a wonderful experience for me. Teaching children is what I love to do. During the year I teach science at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County so having the opportunity to switch gears to teach athletics and develop campers’ social skills and creativity is a great experience for me each summer.
This summer will be my first supervising the Sports Academy. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful children, many of whom I have had as campers in the past. I am very excited to see what this summer brings and I am very much looking forward to seeing all of the campers in a few weeks!
I am so excited to be coming back to BSDC for my fourth summer as the Tweens Division Leader! I have been attending camp for as long as I can remember and I can’t imagine spending my summer doing anything else. I’m looking forward to seeing all my campers again for another amazing summer! We have some great trips planned such as Club Getaway, Broadway and Splish Splash. And of course at camp, I can’t wait to go swimming, play hockey and play volleyball. During the year I work at Harbor Hill Elementary School in Roslyn.
I am so excited for my new position as CIT Division Leader this summer. I have been at Beth Sholom Day Camp for over ten years now, and I am so excited for camp to start. We have a lot of great trips and activities planned for our CITs and I can’t wait to meet everyone in just a few short weeks.
I hope you are all as excited as I am. See you soon!
