We hope that warm thoughts of summer camp are keeping you from the cold throughout this unbelievably freezing winter! The leadership team has been hard at work planning an outstanding summer program for 2015 including new programs, special events and special activities that the children are going to love!
It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of our new assistant director, Heath Levine. Heath comes to us with twenty years of work experience in day camp, including thirteen summers as an administrator and five years as a full time camp professional. He is a lifelong camper having attended camp himself for many years. He has worked in many different roles ranging from assistant counselor to director at two of the premier day camps on Long Island. Heath holds a Masters in Elementary Education from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Science from UnionCollege. He taught elementary school for ten years before taking on a full time role at camp. He is an active member of the American Camp association as a Standards Visitor in the accreditation process of ACA camps. Heath also regularly attends and participates in industry events and conferences in order to find ways to further improve the camp experience for children of all ages.
I am looking forward to working closely with Heath throughout the year to ensure that all of our BSDC campers have fun and safe summers that they will remember for a lifetime.
Sincerely,
Holly Firestone
Director
