Hockey:
Our new hockey program is designed to not only teach the children a new sport but
to have fun and learn how to support one another as a team. Hockey specialist Julie
Azoulay spent her formidable years playing hockey and she remembers fondly the gratification
she felt while practicing and bonding with teammates. She has coached numerous
ice hockey and street hockey teams, ran hockey boot camps for twelve years and worked
with the New York Islanders and New York Rangers. Julie was a successful figure
skater and a national ice hockey player. She is excited to use her extensive history
playing and teaching hockey to enhance the BSDC athletics program.

Circus Arts:
Specialist Carlos Moreira, professional actor and circus performer will be teaching
students basic acrobatics, unicycling and other circus arts including hand balancing
and clowning with improvisation exercises. Carlos has acted in plays and on television
in addition to various circuses including Cirque du Soleil. He has a passion for
teaching the skills he has mastered to children and other aspiring circus performers.
This unique program is sure to be a hit with children of all ages.

Miss Nancy’s Kitchen Sink Super Science:
Nancy Tobia has been an educator for over 10 years. She has created an engaging
science program called “Miss Nancy’s Kitchen Sink Super Science”! Nancy is extremely
happy to join our team and share this fun, educational and exciting program with
our campers. This summer they will mix, measure and observe a variety of physical
and chemical reactions, all made from simple ingredients that can be found in any
kitchen. The results will be thrilling! Some of the projects that campers will
complete in this program are called Color in My World, Manic Magnets, Better Bubbles,
Kooky Chemistry and The World Underground.

Yoga:
Our new Yoga program will be run by Pia Shlomo a Long Island grown yogi, wife and
mother of three. Pia became certified to teach children’s yoga at Karma Kids Yoga,
a renowned children’s yoga school in Manhattan, in 2008. She has now completed
the full training at the Integral Yoga Institute, an internationally renowned institution,
and is certified to teach yoga to children and adults. Pia uses an innovative,
invigorating, yoga format for children of all ages from toddler to teens. While
adult yoga is slow and meditative throughout, children’s yoga is largely imagination
based and incorporates games, songs and movement before introducing the relaxation
portion at the end of the class.
